Park River Area High School took their one act
play to the state compelion in Jamestown on
Dec. 24 and 25 after taking flt place in the re-
gional competilion earlier this month. On Mon-
day they, along with 19 other schools from
across the state, performed before judges. The
compelilion was then narrowed down to the lop
eight schools who then performed again on
Tuesday at the Univemity of Jamestown. Left:

Scott Alan Evans eamed third place in the state
and Isak Johnson took home a supedor acling
award. Those involved in the production in-

Students Wm National Awards
FARGO, N.D. -- Four North
Dakota State University Agron-
omy Club students won awards
during the 2014 intemational an-
nual meeting of the American So-
ciety of Agronomy, Crop Science
Society of America and Soil Sci-
ence Society of America in Long
Beach, Calif.
JadE Bee, a senior crop and
weed sciences major, took first
place in the collegiate crops judg-
ing contest. In this event, corttest-
,:.. ants compete in oplant'andseed
identification, commercial grain
grading and seed analysis.
The Agronomy Club placed
second in the Quiz Bowl team
event. Team members include
Bee; Justin Zahradka, a junior
crop and weed sciences major;
John Breker, a senior soil science
major; and Nevada Turbiville, a
senior crop and weed sciences
major.
In the Quiz Bowl contest,
teams of four earn points by an-
swering questions on agronomy,
crops, soils, and plant and envi-
ronmental sciences.

ordinator and weed science asso-
ciate professor.
More than 4,000 scientists,
professionals, educators and stu-
dents attended the annual meet-
ing. Of those, 370 were under-
graduate students.
The undergraduate student or-
ganization, Students of Agron-
omy, Soils and Environmental
Sciences, held its annual meeting
concurrently with the larger con-
ference.
North Dakota Living
magazine seeks teen writers
MANDAN, N.D. -- The
North Dakota Living magazine is
seeking teen correspondents to
write for its Teen-2-Teen column
in 2015. The column features ar-
ticles written by students, ages 13
to 19, who address subjects of im-
portance to teens. Correspondents
will receive $50 for each article
published.
To become a North Dakota
Living teen correspondent, stu-
dents need to submit'.,,,, ....... :
An essay dotai[in, g ,why, they,,
would make a good contributor;
A teacher recommendation;
and
At least two topics of interest
for potential columns.
In addition, teens must submit
their name, the names of their par-
ents, and their complete mailing
address, telephone number and
email address. Teens should also
indicate if their family is served
by an electric and/or telephone
cooperative. Submissions should
be received by Monday, Dec. 22.
