De— partment of Agriculture (USDA) an- nounced November 18, 2019 the ap- pointments of soybean farmers to serve on the United Soybean Board (U SB), including three North Dako- ta soybean farrners. , Pisek, North Dakota soybean farmer, Darren Kadlec, was re-ap— pointed to serve on USB for anoth- er 3-year term. Kadlec sat on the North Dakota Soybean Council (NDSC) from 2001 to 2008, Bina shines at FFA eadership Development Event in Bismarck . BISMARCK, N.D. — On Nov. 20, Park River Area FFA President Lilly Bina com- peted in the Inaugural F FA LDE Day at the State Capitol in Bismarck. LDE in the FFA- stands for Leadership Development Event (LDE) which is similar to FFA CDE’s which are Career Development Events. It’s been a couple years since the FFA has distinguished the two terms. Basically, LDE are all the FFA speaking events, and CDE are all other FFA contests. The LDE event was started as a way to help free up some of the schedule at the an- nual convention and to also bring more of a spotlight onto these events. LDE events that were held that this event included Par- liamentary Procedure, Prepared Public Speaking, Extemperouns Speaking, Em- ployability Skills, Demonstration and FFA ship Event. Lilly attended the FFA Leader— ship Event held in Larimore this year on Oct. 3 and competed in the Extemperouns Speak- ing Event. The Extemperouns Speaking Event has students look through a number of Agricultural Related Articles pick three articles and then using one of those articles come up with a speech in 30 mins and then present that speech to a group of judges. Lil— ly won the Larimore contest her first ever time competing in this event. On Nov. 20 of this last week Lilly, had the opportunity to compete against other win- ners and runners up from across the other FFA Districts in the state. Lilly didn't make the final round of four to win the event but placed high in event to gain a silver rating in her second time competing. It was a great learning experience and the Park River Soybean Board Creed Speaking.
