They performed "The Trian- gle Factory Fire Project" by Christo- pher Piehler and Scott Alan Evans and came out on top for both the play and earning individual honors. The play is about a factory that burned down in 1911, killing 146 people. The owners of the compa- ny were charged with the murders of their employee& h,,t 8at off without any repercussions. The fire then went down in history because of this ruling. At the competition, the play won first place in the region and Thompson was awarded second. Both plays will be moving on to the state competition in Jamestown on Nov. 24. Along with the team award, Claire Welch, Albert Irvine, and Hope Jehlicka, received Hon- orable Acting awards, and Sami Blixt and Isak Johnson received the Stellar Actor awards. Front: Peyton Restemayer, Jaylie Jelinek Greetings from the Park River Elementary Music Room By Lorrie Hylden PARK RIVER, N.D. -- On Saturday, October 11, Mr. Weltz and I sent 12 Park River Ele- mentary students to Grand Forks to participate in Surround the State in Song. The following fifth grade students participated, Tay- lor Grove, Andrew Koenig, Kar- son Blake, Maci McMillan, Matil- da Salinas, Chloe Jacobson, Jaylie Jelinek Peyton Restemayer. The sixth graders that attended were, Isabella Irvine, Paige MeCby, Hannah Peotter, and Amy Chris' tenson. The event was sponsored by the North Dakota American Choral Directors Association (NDACDA). The students arrive in Grand Forks for a day of rehearsal and performance. The conductor this year was Ruth Ann Tuseth from Grand Forks. The kids really had a good time. It is a day of rigor- ous practice, but the clinicians al- ways find time in the very busy glimpse of what the honor choirs will be like for them in Junior High and High School. We are in full swing practicing for our Christmas programs. This year the Elementary Christmas program will be held on Thursday, December 11, at 7:30 p.m. The High School Christmas Concert will be on Monday, December 15 at 7:30 p.m. We look forward to seeing you all there. day to have fun with the kids.
