Brandon Hankey and Kelsey Schultz were married on October 5, 2013 at the First Universalist Church of Minneapolis, MN. Brandon and Kelsey reside in Grand Rapids, MI, where Kelsey is a resident in Family Practice Medicine and Brandon is a resident in Emergency Medicine. Board member Nic Beneda gave a presentation on different layouts for the new park equipment and they were able to narrow down their options based on what they could spend and what they wanted to offer the community. They de- cided to gear the project to younger kids because Park River Area School already features a playsys- tem geared toward the older age group. Halvorson said that they thought about doing fundraising but wanted the project to happen as quickly as possible, so it was funded by the City of Park River and the Park River Parks District. The project ended up costing $23,000 for equipment and instal- lation through Dakota Fence Com- pany. Halvorson added that the Photo: Allison Olimb Above: Crews from Dakota Fence Company install new playground equipment at the Little Park in Park River. park board's long-term plan is to commit $20,000 per year to the Lit- tle Park for continued renovations. Additional projects for the future, he said, include work on the picnic shelter and swings. In addition to the playsystem on that end of the park, the board also plans to add benches to the area. Construction on the playground started Thursday morning as work- ers from Dakota Fence Company used spray paint to mark out the space where the new equipment would go. By Thursday afternoon, it started to look like a playground. By Friday, the project was com- pleted and though it was a cold, wet day, the park was ready for Park River's younger set to climb all over by Saturday. ]D o]nt' it/q[ iss A]nt ][ ss ut,e Start or renew your subscription today!
