Hell, age 55, of Park Riv- er, passed away, Fri- day, October 18, 2013 with her fami- ly at her side, after a long courageous five with can- cer at the First Care Health Center of Park River. Dawn Decel Hel- land was born Octo- ber 19, 1957 in Grand Forks, ND, the daughter of Oivind and Patsy (Christian) Hel- land. She lived in Hunter, ND for ten years before moving to Park River. She graduated from the Park River High School in 1975. She worked for the Grafton De- velopmental Center, Friendship and most recently the Park River Good Samaritan Center, where she continued to work until her health forced her to quit. Dawn was blessed with two sons and one daughter, who were the highlight of her life along with her grand- children. Dawn was a member of the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, was involved in a lot of Bible study groups in the church and was a member of the faith and care groups in the church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, do- ing crafts, ceramics, gardening and her cats. Dawn is survived by her chil- dren: Cory (Jill) Hell, Park River, ND; Matthew Hell (Cally Odstr- cil), Park River, ND; Amber John- son (Andrew John- son), Park River, ND; grandchildren: Zach, Gavin and Jax Hell; parents, Oivind and Patsy Helland, Park Riv- er; siblings: Tami (Terry) Lund, Park River, ND; Faye Soukup, Park River, ND and Gary (Michelle) Helland, Pembina, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her maternal and pater- nal grandparents, nephew Antho- ny Helland and several aunts, un- cles and cousins. Funeral services were held Monday, October 21, 2013 at 2:30 P.M. at the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Visitation was Sunday from 5-7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Interment will be at the Me- modal Park Cemetery of Park River. In lieu of flowers memo- rials can be made to the Park Riv- er Fire and Rescue, the Altru Cancer Center-Filling the Gap or the First Care Health Center. With a Heart Full of Thanks I'd like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to all my family, friends and neighbors for all of their help, cards, calls, visits, flowers and the food brought over so frequently during my long illness. I'm still battling my illness and have the 3rd surgery to face, so please keep the prayers coming-they are powerful and much appreciated.
