PARK RIVER, N.D. -- The passion is in the details.
There is a book on a side table in the reception area at
the new indoor cycling studio "The Spin" in downtown
Park River that states in bold writing on the cover "Do
One Thing Every Day That Scares You".
Last month Sherry Currie began renovations in the
building suite at 403 Briggs Ave. South where 1 More
Photo photography studio was located. She since has
updated the space to accommodate 15 bikes and cre-
ate a unique workout atmosphere.
Just last week, The Spin opened their doors with more
than 80 bookings throughout the 13 classes offered in
the first week.
The response that Sherry has gotten from the com-
munity has been one of support whether from local busi-
nesses fitting in her small electrical, plumbing, con-
stmction jobs before the opening, or working togeth-
er on scheduling collaborations with her neighbors at
The Gym, or the groups of people willing to give the
workout a try as she prepared for that first day.
Ride of a Lifetime
For Sherry, who had been teaching at Park River Area
School, taking this leap to owning her own business was
a dream made reality.
"I've always wanted to be involved in the fitness in-
dustry," she said.
She was involved in three sports in high school, two
sports in college, and still can be found coaching Park
River/Fordville-Lankin volleyball, today. She has
been certified in a few different areas of personal tra'm-
ing to be able to help train her athletes in the off-sea-
son.
Cycling, Sherry decided, was something that she
could see herself working with long term, a goal her fam-
ily fully supported her on. Her daughters, Hannah and
Ela'ma, even going so far as to become certified cycling
