High Plains Ministry: Mountain Lutheran, Adams; Pae3 IVIaier ,, 1958. Larry was “my one-of—a kind with a viciously charm- ing wit and sense of humor and intellect. He was a sharp- dresser and prone to Orvis, wool and leather-adorned clothing that car- ried wafts cologne and smoke from his persistent ‘ cigars. An avid sportsman, Larry loved to hunt and fish, especially with his sons, grandsons, and lifelong buddies. He was the co-founder of a notorious fishing gang: Society for the Preser- vation of Angling Masters (SPAM), a brotherhood that spent weeks in Canada, and later, Tims Ford Lake. Highlights of his fall were special trips to hunt deer or duck in South Dakota. Larry seemed most excit- ed when planning and orchestrating the complex execution of a hunting or fishing mission, together with his cadre of mates and family. Even though he lived the last 35 years of his life in the south, Larry held on to his North Dakota roots and cul- ture and always insisted on North Dakota potato dumplings for Christ- mas Evc dinner.
