Good for eating and baking. For best results in using this apple, let the frost nip it once, that doesn't sound right, does it? But it is true. I know people that have this kind of apple including myself, find it the best, you can't beat it. Pies are made so easy now, especially when you put a mixture over the apples and it makes its own crust. (I have written that up before) This apple pie recipe is a favorite of mine, using my own apples. Apple Pie-9 in. crust Mix lightly 3/4 C. sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon. Peel 5-6 apples cut up and put into a 9 inch pie crust, sprinkle 1/2 of this mixture over the apples. Peel more apples (4 or 5) on top of this and sprinkle the rest of mixture on apples. Crumb topping: In a bowl mix, 1 C. flour, 1/2 C. sugar Mix these two ingredients, then add 1/2 C. soft butter, sprinkle this crumbled mixture on top of apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Serve warm with ice cream. Apple Bars 1 C. margarine 1 C. sugar 1 large egg 1/2 tsp. soda dissolved in 1/2 C. warm coffee 1 tsp. vanilla 1 1/2 C. flour 2 C. chopped apples Combine all ingredients, mix well and pour into a cookie sheet and sprinkle on top: 1/2 C. chopped fine nuts and 1/2 C. brown sugar, mixed will. Bake a t 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. Cut when cool. German Apple Bars 3 eggs 1 C. oil 2 C. sugar 2 1/2 C. flour 1/2 tsp. salt I tsp. soda 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 C. nuts, chopped 3 to 3 1/2 C. chopped apples 1 Tbsp. cinnamon Beat eggs and oil until fluffy, add sugar, flour and sal t , the soda and vanilla. Mix thoroughly. Fold in nuts and apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes in a cookie sheet pan. When bars are cooled frost with: 3 oz. cream cheese softened 1/2 C. margarine 2 1/2 C. powdered sugar. Mix well, spread on bars. I like this frosting 1C. white sugar 1 big apple grated, 1 egg white Whip all together 'til it stands in peaks.
