This year the Extended School Program is being fully funded by the Park River School at no mon- etary cost to our families. I would like to thank the School Board and administration for their constant support of this valuable program. Park River is so fortunate to have an active after school program available for students to attend. I am impressed daily with the care, time, and concern that everyone involved in the Extended School Program in Park River has for the program itself and for all the chil- dren involved. Our year is off to an enthusiastic start. Our daily schedule is in place and running smoothly. During the after school hours children are kept busy with homework assistance, outside play and movement, classroom en- richment and learning time, cook- ing and snack time, plus a wide va- riety of other activities. Kari Helgoe from Walsh Coun- ty Extension Agency has agreed to work with our program again this year. We are excited to share time with Kari doing cooking exercis- es, some hands on science lessons, and some general 4-H activities in- cluding the possibility of archery with the older students, how EX- CITING!! The Extended School Program is available to all Park River pub- lic school students in grades K-12. ESP is open before school for grades K-6-from 7:00 to 8:00 gram. We also have several stu- dents in grades 7-12 coming in af- ter school for homework assis- tance. "While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about!" I am excited about our ESP year. I love the energy that goes along with working with the chil- dren during the after school hours, it seems that I am always learning new and valuable lessons from the children I am privileged to spend time with each day.
