OCTOBER 6, 2009 WAtSn COUNTY PRESS ricycle ing to replace The Walsh County Fair has de- cided to try a new competition by replacing the potato peeling con- test with a parent/child tricycle race. So kids grab your parent (or grandparent) and show us how fast you can go! This event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and go until 7:30 p.m. on October 23rd at the Chris Midgarden Arena. You're never too old to ride a tricycle! Mutton Busting will be the opening act for the BulI-A-Rama on Thursday October 22nd at 6:00 p.m. in the Main Arena. The contest limits the riders to weighing 70 pounds or less and over the age of four (4). All riders will be receiving a can of pop for their efforts. TheWalsh County Fair decided that this year the Mutton Busting contest will only take place on Thursday, October 22nd. This will be one hour before the BulI-A-Rama begins. All riders are to sign up at least one hour before riding time begins. There will only be a lim- ited amount of riders that can participate. Remember Thursday Will only be the day to show off your riding skills, so sign up quick! Good Luck! The Pack 70 Cub Scouts are going to holding a Pine Wood Derby at the Walsh County Fair this year open to all Cub Scouts to participate in the races. If you are not a Cub/Boy Scout, you can still come and watch the fun. Maybe you would like to join in on the activities and become a Cub/Boy Scout too. Races Start at 1:30pm, Friday October 23rd, 2009. Contestants being sought! The annual Potato Picking matches, held during the Walsh County Fair and State Potato Show, have been scheduled. Youth Potato Picking matches will begin at 3:00 pm and Adult Potato Picking matches will begin at 4:30 pm on Friday, October 23rd in the Chris Midgarden Arena. Steve Rehovsky, Chairman, is busy lining up potatoes and timers. So find a picking part- ner and be ready to pick on Friday as the FastestYouth and Adult pickers are determined for 2009. Registering your team will take place 30 minutes prior to the start of the event. Youth event will consist of individuals 16 and under and the Adult event is 17 and older. Cash prizes and trophies are awarded thanks to the many Fair Sponsors. Did you have a huge pumpkin in your garden this year? Bring it to the Chris Midgarden Arena at the Walsh County Fair on Th ursday October 22, 2009 at I 0:00 am- 12:00 pm. Pumpkins must be at least I O01bs. First Prize $ 100.00 Sec- ond Prize $75.00 and Third Prize $50.00.
