The Potato Picking Con- tests are a time honored tra- dition at theWalsh County Pair. With youth and adult match- es the whole family can par- ticipate! The event starts at 2:30pm with the youth match- es followed by the adults age 17 and up. Registration for this event begins at 2:00pm in the Chris Midgarden Arena. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top youth and adult teams so find a picking partner and come on down to the Walsh County Fair Friday, Oc- tober 19th! This year's match- es are brought to you by the Walsh County Fair and First United Bank. Ready, IS on Kids grab your parent or grandparent and enter in the Walsh County Fair Parent and Child Tricycle Races. The races begin at 6:00 pm Friday, October 19th at the Chris Midgarden Arena. Registration will begin at 5:30. The Bessie Bingo Contest is a game of chance. Two hundred tickets will be sold for two foot by two foot squares. A cow, "Bessie", will be allowed to roam a marked area and wherever she "does her business" the person who has that square will win 50% of the proceeds collected; $500.00 if all tickets are sold! Buy a square and support theWalsh County Fair, it's a chance to win some money and don't forget to cheer on Bessie! The contest will take place Friday, October 19th 3:00pm in the Main Arena.Tickets are $5.00 each and are available from any Fair Director, Com- mittee Chairman or theWalsh County Extension Office. There may be tickets available at the Fair. The rules are as follows: I. Judges decision goes. 2. First plop takes all. 3. If Bessie plops on more than one square, i.e. "lay it on the line," the money will be divided. 4. If Bessie plops on the outside of the border, no count is made. 5. Bessie's plop shall be defined as; an accumulation of fecal material, re- gardless of consistency or color, passed through the alimentary canal and been deposited on the contest board. 6. No pistols, cattle prods, or other devices will be used to make Bessie do her "thing." 7. If Bessie creates a stream effect, all squares covered will win until the stream is broken. 8. Contestant Bessie will be se- lected without regards to race, creed, color, sex or national origin of the Bovine species. 9. Tickets are $5.00 each and are available from any Fair Director, Com- mittee Chairman or theWalsh County Extension Office. They may be avail- able at the Fair. 10. Each ticket holder will buy the right to own one 2'x2' square of which there are 200 squares. I I.
