Irene was bom on December 12, 1924, in Latona Township, rural Adams, ND, to C. Arthur and Chris- tine Bylin. She at- tended primary school in rural Latona Township, graduating from Adams High School in 1942. She attended Mayville Teachers College and earned her teaching certificate. She taught at Silvesta District 82, Adams, Norton District 69 and Lankin Public School, Lankin, ND. While teaching at Norton, Irene met her future husband, Harvey Askim. They were married on December 21, 1945. They farmed and raised three children, Gary, Dennis, andAr- lyn. Harvey died on November 26, 1995. Son Dennis died on October 8, 1991. Her life was filled with actvifies of living on a farm. Irene helped with trucking gram, gardening, and growing flowers. And there was tab ing meals to the field. She liked to take the pickap so there was the tad- gate to set food on and a place for the men to sit. "Tailgating" has been popular for a long time! Living on the farm near the creek was a joy. Irene liked the out- doors, especially sitting on the deck and enjoying the beauty of the farm. In the later years Harvey and Irene did some traveling. Many of these trips were with friends. A favorite pastime was sewing, sewing most of her own clothes and also sewing for others. Without a doubt many knew her favorite col- or was blue. Another favorite of hers was cooking and the grandchil- dren especially remember her buns, milk shakes for breakfast, and the Bible, be well rounded in your life and lead by exam- ple and share your faith with others." She was baptized in her Lutheran faith at Sarepta Lutheran Church, rural Adams, and later became a lifelong member of Hoff Lutheran Church, rural Adams. Her faith was a foundation during her 52 years as a breast cancer survivor. Irene is survived by sons Gary (LeNae) Askim, and Arlyn (Veron7 ica) Askim, Park River, ND; daugh- ter-in-law Mary (Larry Lovseth) Askim-Lovseth, Grand Forks, ND. She also is survived by eight grand- children, Craig (Margie)Askim, Beulah, ND; Lisa (Dave) Olson, Leonard, ND; Matthew (Patience) Askim, South Range, WI; Amanda Askim, Park River; Ryan Askim, and Curtis (Ashley) Askim, Lankin; Justin (Maren) Askim, Bismarck, ND; Michelle (Jason) Durso, Stan- ley, ND; two step-grandchildren, Joshua (Kelsey) Lovseth, Brook- ings, SD; and Jenny (Corey) Sten- son, Alexandria, MN; 20 great- grandchildren; and sister, Carol Ondracek, Lankin, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harvey; son Den- nis; three brothers, Arthur Curds, Jerome (Bud), and Vernon; and great-grandson Liam Askim. Funeral Services will be Wednes- day, September 27, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at the HoffLutheran Church, ruralAdams, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Call the Press at 284-6333 Walter L 'Bud' Walter L "Bud" Ramsey, age 87 of Park River passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Good Samar- itan Center of Park River. Walter L. "Bud" Ramsey was born September 2, 1930 in Grafton, ND, the son of the late Charles Ramsey and Gertrude (Olson) Walty. He attended elementary school at Ramsey Grove Scho.ol District #53 in Vernon Township. He graduated from Walsh County Agricultural School and attended State Agriculture College in Far- go. He entered the U.S. Army in February 1952"and was discharged October 1955. Bud served during the Korean Conflict, which is where he lost his hearing. He re- turned home and fanned with his brother Ken. Bud was united in marriage to Ruth Erickson on November 1 l, 1956 at the Feder- ated Church of Park River. The couple made their home on the family farm near Park River and moved into Park River in No- vember 2011. Bud moved to the Good Samaritan Center on March 13, 2017. He was a member ofthe Fed- crated Church, Park River, served on the church board, taught Sun- day school, led the Christian Young Life Organization and par- ticipated in two mission trips, Guatemala and Jamaica, where he helped build churches. He served on the Walsh County Fair Board, the Vernon Township board for The Lordhas His way and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet. over 40 years, the Walsh County Wa- ter Board and was a member of the Bosh-Ryba Amer- ican Legion. He liked to fish, hunt and loved raising his cattle: Bud is survived by his wife Ruth Ramsey, Park Riv- er, ND; his sisters: Dianna (Cliff) Lu- cas, Sacremento, CA; Carol (Elmer) Peterson, Minneapolis, MN; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ram- sey, Park River, ND. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Kenneth, Phyllis Ellingson, infant sister Martha, niece, Gail Novak and nephew Rick Ramsey. Funeral services will be Thurs- day, September 28, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at the Federated Church of Park River. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7:00 with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Me- morial Park Cemetery, Park Riv- er, ND. Military Rites will be pro- vided by the Bosh-Ryba American Legion and the North Dakota Na- tional Guard Honor Guard.
