PAGE 2 THE PRESS SEPTEMBER 12, 2012 ,4g'EA V'OZ,'.'.ES LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD A difficult farewell from a former Parks and Rec manager By Todd Kjelland For the first time in the past three years 1 am at a loss for words. Star- ing at a blank screen thinking about what to write has never been an is- sue fbr me. Perhaps it is part of my upbringing that if you have nothing good to say then, say nothing at all. Or as the words of my old high school principal, Richard Clarens, would say, "The squeaky wheel gets the grease". Whatever the case, with the help of unseen forces I will have the strength to try to convey a message of hope and en- couragement. My life experiences have taught me more than any text book or self- help article. I have been enlight- ened through trials of eceit, lies and ulterior motives. Thr)ugh these tlials comes the ft ofdi,.cemment, patience and wisdom. Mthough, being able to decipher tl'ese things can seem to be a burden at times, they allow for the truth to be seen. What is truth? Is it the squeaky wheel or the unspoken thoughts? Is truth, truth at all if there are hidden motives? When w'e live with hid- den motives the simple words "I Love You" are replaced with "'1 trade you" We have all done this. "What do 1 get out of it if I help (love) you?" Do I get recognition? Do I get status? Do I get some- thing from someone that agrees with my point of view? If we as a society expect something in return tbr every action we take, the ex- pectation will ahvays cause us to fail. So where is the hope and en- couragement? It is within all of us and the ability to change otu way of thinking ad help one mlother with- out expectation in retm'n. Special thanks to Loren Zaval- ney, Nell Puente, Damon Johnson for stepping up to coach the Pop Warner tbotball program this year A public meeting will be held on Thursday, September 13 at 6:00 pm in the Alumni Room at the Park River High School to present information and answer ques- tions regarding the proposed Reorganization Plan with the Adams School District.
