A major part of the prograln is leadership education which will take place in the morning of each meeting date. Educational topics will include: learning your behav- ioral style, understanding your connnunity's assets, managing conflict, parlialnentary procedure, ethical decision-making, effective connnunication and public rela- tions, and legal and financial issues for decision makers. The second major part of the program is increasing awareness of the assets and services available in the region. The afternoon of each meeting date will be spent touting sites ill each community to increase this awareness first-hand. Some of these tours inchlde local entrepre- neurs, agricultural and manufac- truing businesses, education, gov- ernment and medical facilities. In March 2013, participants of the Growing Leaders program will travel to Bismarck for two days to tom" the State Capitol, meet many North Dakota State agency staff' members, meet with local legisla- tors, and attend hearings.
