COMMUNITY THE WALSH COUNTY PRESS WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 27.00 .... lllllillf l'ig ......... NIV Response to Lloyd Omdahl Blasting Shared Pareming By Charles Tuttle MINOT, N.D. -- In the words of a great President Reagan, Lloyd "there you go again" your opinion on Shared Parenting is like all your opinions. You were wrong on the property tax Measure 2. The state has plenty of money but does not want the taxpayers to benefit. The Fighting Sioux (You wanted to kill the name), you forgot to ask the na- tives what they wanted. They formed a Committee of Understanding and Respect to keep the name. Measure 4 in November will take the rights away from North Dakotans to make laws by initiative. You are a liberal Lawyer- edu- cator who loves things like Com- mon Core, anything that will put the government in control of our chil- dren. You always favor Govern- ment Knows best. Government needs to be bigger more intrusive. It is in your mind the end all be all. But just like other issues you always seem to think you know best, Shared Parenting is another exam- ple of something you know nothing about. My dad use to have a name for people like you. He would have called you a Know it all, (definition) some one who Knows everything but does nothing. I am the guy who spoke to more people, heard more stories about Shared Parenting than anyone in history. I got 15000 plus signatures to put this on the bal- lot, that means I spoke to literally thousands more. (because not every- one signed). Divorce is not a good thing, especially for children. No fault makes it even worse. Family court consumes 50 billion Dollars a year. More than all the oth- er courts combined. 80% or more children living with a single morns live below poverty level. When only 28% single dads. Before no fault divorce 1969 Duds 95% of the time retained full custody. The un- intended consequence was 5% di- vorce. (moms did not want to leave their children). Children love both parents Lloyd and need both with- out conflict. Equal parenting gives the children that opportunity. My five will tell you they wanted that more than anything in the world. Just remember Lloyd it's about the children not the government or for that matter the selfish divorcing par- ents. Vote Yes to shared parenting I know our kids would. And Lloyd keep you uninformed opinions and bias as an attorney to yourself. Thank you. Editor's Note: Tuttle is from Minot, N.D. I.IA at at atl.,wvat at Jt'Jald eligible, she'll need to meet all of the follow- ing conditions: Her health condition makes moving around her home very difficult, even with the help of a cane, walker or manual wheelchair. She has significant problems performing activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, getting in or out eta bed or chair, or using the bathroom. She is able to safely operate, and get on and off the scooter or wheelchair, or have some- one with her who is always available to help her safely use the device. If eligible, your mom's doctor will deter- mine what kind of mobility equipment she'll need based on her condition, usability in her home, and ability to operate it. It's also important to know that Medicare coverage is dependent on your mom needing a scooter or wheelchair in her home. If her claim is based on needing it outside her home, it will be denied as not medically r/ecessary, be- cause the wheelchair or scooter will be con- sidered as a leisure item. Where to Shop If the doctor determines your mom needs a power scooter or wheelchair, he or she will fill out a written order or certificate of medical ne- cessity (CMN) form for her. Once she gets that, she'll need to take it to a Medicare approved supplier within 45 days. If your mother hap- pens to live in one of Medicare's competitive bidding areas, you'll need to get her device from specific suppliers approved by Medicare. To find approved suppliers and competitive bid- ding suppliers in your area, visit or call 800-633-4227. Once you choose an approved supplier, they will send a representative to assess your mom's home measuring her doorways, thresh- olds and overall space to ensure she gets the appropriate mobility device. Financial Assistance If your mom has a Medicare supplemental policy, it may pick up some, or all of the 20 per- cent cost of the scooter or wheelchair that's not covered by Medicare. If, however, she does- n't have supplemental insurance, and can't af- ford the 20 percent, she may be able to get help through Medicare Savings Programs. Call your local Medicaid office for eligibility in- formation. Or, if you find that your mom is not eligi- ble for a Medicare covered scooter or wheel- chair, and she can't afford to purchase one, rent- ing can be a much cheaper short-term solution. Talk to a supplier about this option. For more information, call Medicare at 800- 633-4227 and request a copy of publication # 11046 "Medicare's Wheelchair and Scooter Benefit," or you can read it online at Medicare Advantage If your mom happens to have a Medicare Advantage plan (like an HMO or PPO), she'll need to call her plan to find out the specific steps she needs to take to get a wheelchair or scooter. Many Advantage plans may have spe- cific suppliers within the plan's network they'll require her to use. Send your senior questions to: Savvy Senior, P.O.
