Family of GuyMiUer establishes memorial 5K By Kellen Dobmeier of The Press MINTO, N.D. -- A memorial 5K will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20, in memoryof Guy Miller. The race will begin at 9am at the Minto Community Center. Gregory "Guy" Miller, who lived and farmed in rural Minto, was swept away by spring flood- water on April 29, 2013. His body was recovered Sept. 7, 2013. In an effort to preserve the memory of Guy, his family start- ed the Guy Miller Memorial. In an effort to give back to all those who helped in the search and eventual recovery of his body, the Guy Miller Memorial 5K run/walk was established. All proceeds of the first annual 5K will benefit the Northeast Regional Water Opera- tions Team. The Northeast Regional Water Operations Team specializes in water rescue, safety, recovery, marine patrol, flood and emer- gency response. The group's mis- sion is to provide an organized group of water rescue, recovery, and operational specialists that are properly trained and equipped for an effective response to water related emergencies and Miller 5K Cont poge 7 Larry Ritzo of Valley Views and News in Drayton passes away DRAYTON, N.D. -- Larry Ritzo, owner, publisher and only employee of the Valley News and Views in Drayton, died Thursday, July 21 as the result of complica- tions from a surgical procedure. As a one-man shop, Larry re- cruited two friends, Chris Larson and Dick Johnson, to put the pa- per out while he was away for sur- gery and a recuperation period that was expected to last three weeks. Larson and Johnson plan to put the paper out for a couple more weeks in memory of Ritzo, who is sur- vived by his mother, in Graflon. Box 309, Drayton, ND 58225 Lila Schoyen Lila Schoyen, age 94, Enderlin, ND and formerly of Fordville, ND passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Mary- hill Manor in En- derlin. Lila was born May 3, 1920 near Fordville on the Vangsness Family Farm. She was raised and grew to womanhood near Fordville, grad- uating from Fordville High School. Lila married Everett Schoyen on March 24, 1954 in Grand Forks. They lived and farmed near Fordville until 2006 when she moved to Maryhill Manor in En- derlin. Mr. Schoyen preceded her in death on March 27, 1993. Lila was a lifelong member of the Fordville Lutheran Church, Surviving members of her fam- ily include her daughter: Jeanne (Wayne) Fleischfresser, Ender- lin; sisters-in-law: MarilynBondy, Dahlen and Pauline Bondy, Grand Forks; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Owen Bondy, Sr., Orlin Bondy, Amold Bondy, Gor- don Bondy and sister: lone Carl- son. FUNERAL SERVICES: 10:30 a.m, Monday, Au- gust 25, 2014 inthe Fordville Lutheran Church of Fordville. VISITATION: Sunday, August 24 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. with a 3 p.m. prayer service in the Bakke Funeral Home of Fordville.
