It was a very successful day and we deeply appreciate the generous donations from all who attended. Also, our special thanks to Jim's Super Valu and his employees who helped with the fundraiser; to Land 'o' Lakes for donating the ice cream; to Schwan's Wholesale for donating the root beer. PARK RIVER, N.D. -- The third annual Quilt Bingo will be held 2 p.m. September 7, 2014, at Park River High School in Park River, ND. Tickets are $20 and available at businesses throughout Walsh County. Quilt Bingo participants play 15 games of bingo to win handmade quilts. A raffle will also be held for a queen quilt. This event is being coordinated by Ruth Jelinek, Quilt Bingo Chairperson, Altru's Hos- pice staff and volunteer commit- tee members dedicated to Altru's Hospice in Park River and Grafton. All proceeds will benefit ARm's Hospice Camp Good Mourning. Camp Good Mourning is a grief camp for children and teens (ages six - 18 years) who have experi- enced the death of a loved one. Camp Good Mourning will be held June 26-28, 2015, at the Park River Bible Camp. For more information about Camp Good Mourning or Quilt Bingo, please contact Sue Mairs at 701.331.9008. Sweet Green Tomato Relish I1 green pepper 3 medium size onions 4 C. green tomatoes 3 apples (not delicious, don'tpeel) Grind tomatoes, onions and squeeze excess juice. Mix up the followmg: 2 1/2 C. sugar 3 tsp. salt 2 tsp. celery seed 2 1/2 C. vinegar 2 tsp. mustard seed 1 small can pimentos With the juice, mix all ingredients and boil about 15 minutes. Owen, age 88 of Park River, ND, passed away peace- fully, surrounded by family on Sat- urday, August 16, 2014 at her, home under hospice care. Mildred G. Gronos was born September 12, 1925 in Rugby, (9 ND, the daughter of the late George and Esther (Hittle) Gronos. She grew up and attended school in Wolford, ND and graduating from Wolford High school. In 1943 she began attending the Nurse Cadet Corps and completed her training in Rugby, Minot and Chicago. She graduated in 1946 in Rugby and was united in marriage to the love of her life, Delvin Owen, on October 21, 1946 in Bismarck, ND. Following their m alyiage the couple farmed for h short time and in 1950 moved to Fargo where she began working as a nurse at St. Luke's Hospital. In 1953 the couple moved to Adams, ND and in 1960 she began working as an OB nurse in Grafton. She worked for various places as a nurse and delivered many babies until she re- fired in 1979. After her retirement from nursing, she began helping her husband with Owen Oil. She is a member of Our Sav- iour's Lutheran Church of Park River and a former member of Adams Mountain Lutheran Church and the St. Ansgar's Hos- pital Auxiliary. Although she loved nursing, her family was al- ways number one in her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, son David, granddaugh- ter Bobbi Morrison, grandson Christian Keys, brothers: George, Kenneth, James, and Roger, and sister-in-laws: Margurite "Peg- gy" Owen, Shirley Owen, and He, len Owen. Memorial services were held Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 2:30 P.M. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Park River. Visitation was held on Monday, from 5-7, with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M, at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. A private family burial will take place at a later time.
