Hello everyone. I hope the functions when the 4th is in the summer has been a good one, with middle of the week. Next year, it s the morning temps, in the 40s, I on a Friday so things should work hope summer isn t done for the out a lot better - year. I did get an unsigned letter from We had three major projects we someone (unsigned letters to me wanted to get completed this year. We're well on our way to having two of them completed. The third project is being held up by the Governor and his state water com- mission. The infrastructure is in at our North Star addition and one house is being constructed. I'd like to see at least four more started this year. The paving project to Walsh Grain LLC is well under way and has a completion date of Septem- ber 15.2013. The contractor said something about a lot of rocks out there I don't know what he's talking about! The water tower replacement is "stuck" at the state water commis- sion that the governol' chairs. House Bill 1020 set aside $16+ million for "emergency" water projects in the state for six com- munities of which both Park River and Grafton are named for $2+ million each. A letter to the gover- nor and the water commission from all of you may help. I don't like political games and that is what this has turned into. The cost to repair our water tower is $900,000 and I'd rather see that money go towards a new one with five times the capacity of our old tower. Thanks to everyone that made the 4th of July another huge suc- cess. It's tough to plan enough usually go in the garbage) but this one is about the "poor" job Park River does on the 4th! It was ad- dressed to the Mayor and city council• It lists 30 different things that Oslo, Minn., does that we don't during Oslo Days. A kiddie parade, church break- fast, dunking tank, balloon water toss, bingo, kids tractor pull, dog show, 5K run, volleyball in the park, kids races, horse show, horseback rides with pictures, fire dept. water wars, softball tourna- ment, more food vendors. A rib fest put on by the bars. Why is everyone selling tickets (X-3) ? The hour-long lines at the legion don't cut it, and a concert on main street by the bagpipers, just to name a FEW! The reason I've written about this is because I agree with some of it! BUT, if we're going to do any of these events, organizations, businesses and individuals need to get off their rear ends and step up to the plate! Right now, (excluding the fire dept.) 6 or 7 people do EVERY- THING and 6 or 7 of those same people are associated with the city! Come on Park River, let's do better or quit complaining!• Mayor Dan Stenvold Torfin, Marx celebrate nuptials Jacqueline Torfin and Bradley Marx were married on October 6, 2012, at Park River Bible Camp, followed by a reception and dance at the Park River City Auditorium.
