Gtx00 Samaritan holds vow renewal ceremony for resident couples
By Emily Laaveg
of The Press
PARK RIVER, N.D. -- On July 31, the
Good Samaritan Society of Park River held a Mar-
riage Celebration and Blessing for some of its res-
idents. Nanette Hoeger, the Activities Director at
the Good Sam said, "It's a nice thing to do. We
used to do it at the old home I worked at in Grand
Forks once a year."
"When you get up in years, you never know
what could happen," she also said, "There was
a lady at my old home who wanted to do it be-
cause her husband was dying, and he had been
a part of her life longer than anybody else.',.
The event was held to celebrate the wedding
anniversaries of several residents.
Along with a slideshow of pictures of weddings
and anniversaries, four couples reaffirmed their
wedding vows. They were Luke and Geraldine
Suda, who married on June 20, 1956, Charles and
Shirley Lindell, who married on June 10, 1950,
Pastor Harvey and Shirley Jackson, who married
on August 5, 1961, and Wayne and Virginia Mey-
er, who married on June 3, 1956.
Editor's Note: Wayne passed away before he
was able to see this issue, however he and his fam-
ily did receive a copy of the photo that was tak-
en at the ceremony.
