John 'Jack' Leon
John Leon Petit, 81, passed away July 24 in
Lake Havasu City, AZ.
'Jack' was born in Backoo, ND on the old farm
to Leon and Ines Petit Oct. 3, 1930. He graduated
from Cavalier High School and then attended
Jamestown College where he met his future wife,
Doris White. Jack was an English major and he
and Doris taught for four years in North Dakota.
He then followed his desire to enter the ministry.
He graduated from Dubuque Seminary in Iowa and
then went on to serve as a Presbyterian minister for
35 years.
After retirement the couple moved to Lake
Havasu City in 1998. Jack was active in the
Community Presbyterian Church, Golden K
Kiwanis and Hospice of Havasu. He also served
as chaplain in Hospice for several years.
Jack was survived by his wife, Doris; four
children, Jerry, Omaha, Neb Lila (Richard Dan)
Pierceton, Ind James (Nancy) McLean, Va and
Lark of Lake Havasu City; six grandchildren,
Heather, Sarah, Brett, Clint, Beth, and Cody; and
one great-grandson, Chase. He was preceded in
death by his parents and four older brothers.
Visitation was at Lietz-Fraze Chapel July 26.
Burial will take place at a later date in Omaha, Neb.
A memorial service will be at the Community
Presbyterian Church on Aug. 11, l lam with Rev.
David Bybee officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting
memorials to the Community Presbyterian Church,
Hospice of Havasu or Golden K. Kiwanis.
Gayle A. Swartz
Gayle A. Swartz age 59 of Lankin,
ND passed away on Sunday, August
05, 2012 at First Care Health Center
of Park River.

both of Minneapolis, MN;
grandmother Blanche Swartz and
