This "V" indicator can used at local businesses for discounts or other perks. Veterans of North Dakota have storied history should be proud of their service. This is a simple way that the State of North Dakota is giving back to their Veterans. All the veteran has to do is bring in a copy of their discharge pa- pers (DD214) to a Veteran Service Officer. The Veteran Service Of- ricer will verify the individual qualifies as a Veteran in accordance with NDCC 37-01-40. The officer will then give the veteran a SFN 59980 "Verification of Veteran Status for Veteran Indicator on a Drivers Li- cense" form. The Veteran will bring this form into a ND Drivers Li- cense Site Location when he/she renews their driver's license. Ira re- newal is not due then an $8.00-$15.00 dollar duplicate fee will be charged. As a fellow veteran I recently took advantage of this benefit at the Grafton, ND Driver's License site location and I can assure you that it is quite painless. Feel free to stop by the Walsh County Veteran Serv- ice Office to get your verification form today. In many cases we may already have your discharge on file at the office.
