Neii.g]hLlb o,rs teves CRYSTAL, N.D. --- The Pem- bina County Historic Preservation Commission (PCHPC) recently presented the City of Crystal with a bronze National Register Plaque for the Crystal Bridge. The Crystal Bridge was nomi- nated to the National Register of ttistoric Places in 1997 as apart of a multiple property nomination tbr "Historic Roadway Bridges in North Dakota." Also referred to as the ('art Creek Bridge, the bridge was constructed in 1927 at a cost of $4,187. The contract for construc- tion of the bridge was awarded to Fargo Bridge & Iron Company on December 20, 1927. Kneeling is Frank 0limb (city council) road. The bridge is a two-span concrete T-beam structure approx- 'imately 66 feet long and 25 feet wide. The bridge retains a high level of integrity. The Crystal Bridge is one of the two oldest doc- umented concrete T-Beam bridges in North Dakota. The bridge is lo- cated on East Appleton Avenue mid is maintained by Pembina County. The purchase of the National Register Plaque has been financed in part with Federal ffmds from the National Park Service, United States Department of the Interior, and administered by the State His- torical Society of North Dakota. The local match portion was paid by the Crystal Booster's Club.
