PARK RIVER, N.D. -- Twen- ty-eight Walsh County youth, rep- resenting six area 4-H clubs, par- ticipated in the 2014 4-H Con- sumer Choices judging event held June 26th in Park River. The purpose of this event is to promote consumer skills when se- lecting items and to defend their se- lections by presenting oral reasons to judges. The top five scorers in the Be- ginner Division Julia Pic, Pisek; Greta Wharam, Park River; Claire Wharam, Park River; Zach Zik- mund, Pisek; and Connor Hodek, Fordville. The Junior division high scor- ers, first through fifth respectively, were Julia Koppang, Adams; Toby Zikmund, Pisek; Annah Zikmund, Minto; Britton Bina, Lankin; and Sydney Beneda, Lankin. The Julie Praska Memorial Tro- phy/Home Economics Judging Traveling Trophy is given in mem- ory of Julie Praska who was a Walsh County 4-H Youth who passed away from cancer in 1972. Her parents, Dave and Betty, and their family have sponsored this tro- phy and award a prize to the top score winner in the Junior Division.
