Tears formed in my eyes as I watched the Parade on Main Street (Briggs Ave. The realization that Park River is not only a thriving community, but truly a community with a heart that draws people from all over the country. My tears were from the joy ofknowing I am home. At Parks and Rec our busy holiday weekend started with a Babe Ruth Mini Tournament on Friday, a Sand Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, Free swimming at the pool on Monday and a Drum and Rhythm Show on Monday evening. I'd like to thank everyone that participated, volunteered and supported the events. The 2011 baseball and softball programs had a very good showing this year with most of the teams fmishing in the top of their respective leagues. July will prove to be busy as well. The renewed soccer program is scheduled to begin on Monday July 18th and run for 4 weeks. Ages will be for kids entering Kindergarten in the fall up to age 16. Watch the website for more information and registration information. We are also seeking co-ed Sand Volleyball teams to compete on Thursday nights starting July 21st and also running a 4 week mini season. See www. for more information. Ongoing summer classes include Private Drum Lessons, a Rock n Roll Boot Camp and Drumline Performance Classes. Fundraising through the baseball field advertising program has had a successful start and continues to attract new advertisers. Park River Square's "Bucks for Bats" program and coupon sales has also been a Success. We are looking for sponsors for a "Dive In" Movie night FUNdraiser at the pool. Contact Todd at 701-331-2956. Starting in the fall we will be offering Pop Warner Football, Acro Gymnastics and an after school Bato n Twirling class for ages 9-12. I would also like to say "Thank You" to the city crew, Park River Implement and Leon's Building Supply for your help in building the city's new Sand Volleyball court.
