I don't know," Nolan Verwest Leroy Nolan Verwest, age 79, resident of rural Finley, (Pickert,ND) passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011 at his home. Nolan was born March 24, 1932 at the Northwood Deaconess Hospital, the first child of Hadley and Margit (Raaen) Verwest. He grew up and attended school in PickeTt and Finley, ND. He farmed with his father on the homestead farm and on June 22, 1958 he married Doama Jean Hultstrand at the Federated Church in Park River, ND. After their marriage they continued to live and farm in rural Finley. Through the years Nolan and Danna Jean enjoyed numerous trips. Nolan worked many winters building pole barns and houses m the community. In 1996 Nolan and his family purchased Finley Lumber & Supply. Nolan retired from farming in 1997 but remained active with Finley Lumber & Supply until his death. Throughout his life Nolan was a goodwill ambassador to Finley and the surrounding area. He served on several boards including St. Petri Lutheran Church, Steele County Farm Bureau, Shelly Creamery, Easton Township, ND Square Dancing Association, Steele County Soil Conservation District, ND Township Officers Association, Lake Agassiz Regional Council, Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D), Finley- Sharon School Board, Iso Straw Co-op, Finley Fire District #203, Steele County Historical Society, and Finley Housing Authority. Nolan also spent several legislative sessions in Bismarck lobbying for the ND Township Officers Association. After retiring from the farm Nolan became known for his baked goods, especially coffee cake, pies, cookies and yummy bars. He always had time to visit with friends in the community and anytime spent with his family was cherished by Nolan. Nolan will be deeply missed and remembered by his wife Donna Jean of rural Finley, ND; daughters Loree (Randal) Hoverson of rural Hannaford, ND and Lisa (Mark) Martens of rural Cooperstown, ND; 4 grandsons Curtis, Ryan & Kyle Hoverson and Brenden Martens; 2 brothers Robert (Judy) Verwest of rural Finley, ND and Dr. Hadley Verwest of St. Paul, MN; one niece, four nephews, & several cousins and friends. Nolan was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services for Nolan will be Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 11:00AM in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Coopcrstown, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 6, 2011 from 3 PM to 7 PM with a family service at 7 PM in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Sherbrooke Cemetery, rural Finley, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents from Norway, Iver and Anna (Engevik) Tenold, and brother Arthur.: Marjorie is survived by her husband, Rev. Orville Sunde, and children: John, Paul, Luther, Mark, Michael, and Mary, and Marj CriB'S brother Obert Tenold. She attended High School in Hettinger, ND, and graduated from Augustana Academy in Canton, SD. She attended Augsburg College and graduated from Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, MN. Marjorie has worked in Christian Ministry throughout her lifetime including: missionary work in Mexico, taught Vacation Bible School in many states for LBI, Dean of Girls at Dakota Lutheran High School. in Minot, ND, was a parish worker and radio secretary at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN. Marjorie married Rev. Orville J. Sunde and served many Lutheran parishes in North Dakota, Minnesota, and South Dakota. The funeral service was held Monday, July 11, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. with visitation one hour prior to the service at Trinity Lutheran Church, Edinburg, ND. A visitation also was held Sunday from 3-5 P.M. at the Tollefson Ftmeral Home in Edinburg. The interment will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Edinburg. Donald "Donnie" Ramsey Donald "Donnie" Ramsey, age 78 of Grand Forks, ND passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Ala Hospi- tal in Grand Forks, ND. Donnie Ramsey was born on June 23, 1933 in Park River, ND the son of John H. and Amy (Simmons) Ramsey. Donald attended school, tit WCAS'in l%rk River; with the Class of 1953 :- Donnie Worked on a farm near Park River, ND and then in 1967 began employment at Lystads in Grand Forks and worked there for 18 years. He then worked for ReD Lab for 10 years. Donnie was a proud member of AA and celebrated 32 years of sobriety. In Lieu of flowers the family respectively asks that memorials are preferred. Family members of Donald include 1 brother Ernest (Caro- line) Ramsey of Grand Forks, ND, 2 sisters, Vir- ginia (Wayne) Meyer of Edin- burg, ND and Shirley Parker of Murchison, TX. Donald is pre- ceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers, Lester, Desmond, Gordon and an infant twin brother Ronald Ramsey along with numerous , nieces and nephews.
