The purpose of this event is to promote consumer skills when selecting items and to de- fend their selections by presenting oral reasons to judges. The top scorers in the Beginner Division, first through seventh re- spectively, were Brynan Medbery, Andrew Riske, Ingrid Myrdat 'Kris- ten Huhfa, Clam Kjelland, Braelyn Scott and Maxim Corbu. The Junior division high scorers, first through eighth respectively, were Anna Riske, Julia Pic, Liam Medbery, Connor Hodek, Brandon Houser, Andrew Myrdal, Owen Zikmund and Zach Zikmund. The Julie Praska Memorial Trav- eling Trophy is given in memory of Julie Praska who was a Walsh County 4-H Youth who passed away from cancer in 1972. Her par- ents, Dave and Betty, and their family have sponsored this trophy to honor the top score winner in the Junior Division. We were pleased to have Louise Novak present this award to Anna Riske for her top SCOre. The top four individuals in the Senior Division, first through fourth respectively, were Marit Ellingson, Sarah Hodek, Meghan Lorton and Samantha Houser. The top scorers in both the Jun- ior and Senior divisions will com- pete at the state Consumer Choices event at the North Dakota State Fair on July 24th. Oral reasons judges were Fern Magenau, Macine Lukach and Faye Ramsey. The Flatlanders 4-H Club was the host club for the event and were responsible for helping regis- ter participants and served as event helpers. Walsh County 4-H has over 120 members county-wide. 4-H is the youth educational component of the NDSU Extension Service.
