MAYOR OF PARK RAVER
Welcome to holidays ,and
busy days m Park Rtver
Hello and welcome to Park
River for our 4th of July celebra-
tion! We have a lot of activities
planned and hopefully you will be
able to attend most of them. We
started on Tuesday with our
Canada Day parade, Thursday is
the Alumni banquet and street
dance. Friday the 4th starts at 8am
with a pancake breakfast at Kens-
ington Place with 14 different
things to do before the best fire-
works display in the country starts
at 10pm. Saturday is thehill climb
in Fordville AND it is also my
grandson Wyatt's 1 st birthday so
I'll be staying at home! Sunday,
the American Legion is having a
pancake and sausage breakfast
from 8am-lpm. PLEASE have a
safe holiday!
Elections are done; I would like
to thank everyone that took the
time to vote. Thank-you for the
votes of confidence in what the
council and I have been doing for
the past several years. We've
made several decisions on some
huge projects and they have all
seemed to work out just fine.
The highway 17 project should
be complete by the 4th, the mill,
overlay and painting is complete
now and crews are working on all
the new handicap accessible side-
walk crossings. It's to bad the rail-
road wasn't on board to fix their
miserable crossing. Supposedly,
it's in their plans to be repaired in
the next 2 years .... Don't hold
your breath, we've been trying to
get it repaired for 8 years ! !
We just had the pre-construc-
tion meeting with Mayo Con-
struction. They will be adding
curb and gutter as well as paving
our new North Star addition. The
work will start immediately
(weather permitting) the construe-
tion will make a beautiful place
even better!
July 10th we will open bids to
start replacing about 5,100' of
water mains and sewer lines that
need to be done before our new
water tower is built. Hopefully,
2015 will bathe year our old water
tower is replaced. This has also
been an 8 year: project so cross
your fingers!
North Star Coop has also
started construction on their new
multi-million dollar fertilizer
plant. It is located on the west side
of the new paved street going to
Walsh Grain, I would personally
like to thank the board of directors
and management team for choos-
ing Park River to build their new
facility. This should be huge for
serving all the farmers in our re-
gion.
We are also going to offer 5
acres of land in our industrial park
to the Walsh Pembina Livestock
Slaughter Facility. This is a proj-
ect that has been going on for the
past few months and they are at
the stage in the game where they
have to have a place to build. Cav-
alier and Crystal are also inter-
ested in the new facility. This will
be aS1.1 million building with
contents and 8-10 new, good pay-
ing jobs. I think Park River would
be the perfect place to build!!
Our city employees have been
swamped with everything that
they are doing. I would like to
thank each and every one of them
for the great job they do for our
city. A BIG thank you to each and
every resident of Park River for
the fantastic job you do, keeping
this city looking absolutely beau-
tiful!!

2014 Reporting of Prevented
Planting Extended to July 15
FARGO, N.D. -- USDA Farm extending the various prevented
Service Agency (FSA) North planting acreage reporting dead-
Dakota State Executive Director lines for North Dakota to coincide
Aaron Krauterhas announced that with the final crop acreage re-
prevented planting reporting dead-porting date of July 15, 2014.
lines have been extended this year Prevented planting acreage re-
to coincide with the final acreage
reporting date of July 15 due to
planting issues caused by North
Dakota's cold, wet spring.
"Farmers need to visit their lo-
cal FSA office before July 15 to re-
port all their crop acreage, in-
eluding that which has been pre-
vented from planting," Krauter
said.
USDA policy requires farmers
who request prevented planting
credit to report the applicable
acreage to FSA on form FSA-578
(Report of Acreage) and file form
CCC-576 (Notice of Loss) with-
in 15 calendar days after the final
planting date for the crop.
Final planting dates vary by
crop but are typically well before
the final acreage reporting date of
July 15. For 2014, however, FSA
has simplified the process due to
the widespread rainfall events by
ported on CCC-576 and FSA-
578 after this date may be subject
to late filing fees.
Farmers with highly erodible
land are reminded they are re-
quired to follow a conservation
plan to retain conservation com-
pliance eligibility. If the weather
conditions change a farmer's plant-
ing plans, they need to ensure
they still follow an acceptable
conservation plan.
Krauter also reminds producers
that it is important to accurately re-
port failed and prevented planted
acreage for crop insurance pur-
poses and in the event future dis-
aster programs are made available
through USDA.
For more information about
the programs administered by
FSA, visit any FSA County Office
or www.fsa.usda.gov.
