William (Bill)Jan Geary William (Bill) Jan Geary died in Torrance, CA on May 16, 2011 at the age of 71 following a brief illness. He was born on June 1'2, 1939 in Grafton, N.D. Bill 'attended elementary and high school in Adams, N.D., graduating in 1957. He went on to graduate from the University of North Dakota in 1961 and entered the United States Navy. Serving as a Navy Pilot, he *did two tours in Vietnam where he flew 137 combat missions. With more fhan 300 aircraft carrier landings to his credit, he gained recognition as a Triple Centurion before retiring as a Lt. Commander in 1983. While still in the Navy, he obtained an MBA Degree from the University of LaVerne in California. Bill spent his summers in Adams maintaining a farmstead and his childhood home. He was active in tennis, running, golfing and competed in the North Dakota Prairie Rose State Games for over 19 years. He was a member of the Qually- Dvorak Post in Adams. Bill is survived by his daughters, Suzanne Angel Pape and Ginger Geary, Los Angeles, CA; granddaughter Isabella Angel, Los Angeles, CA, sister Patricia Geary, Denver, CO; three nieces, Lori Erickson, Denver, CO, Leah (Bill) Westfall, Meridian ID, Heather (Byron) Kuss, Tigard, OR; 2 nephews, Jody Erickson, Adams, N.D., John Erickson, Escondido, CA; sister-in-law, (ozette Geary, Meridian, ID; son-in=law, Paul Pape, los Angeles, CA; 2 great nieces, Madison and Mackenzie Westfall, Meridian, 1D. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gerald Don, sister Doris Erickson and daughter Shauna. Memorial services will be held June 25, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Mount.aih Lutheran Church in Adams. Graveside services to follow at the nearby Gustavus Adolphus Cemetery. Skeim Shirley M. Skeim, age 97 of Park River, ND passed away on Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center of Park River.- Shirley M. Thoe was born September 16, 1913 near Cummings, ND the daughter of the late Gunder and Lydia (Bagge) Thoe. She grew up and attended school there. She children: Darrell (Beverly) Wegge, Grand Forks, ND; Lydia (John) Kelly, Park River, ND; Bonny (Larry) Dvorak, Park River, ND; Gary Skeim, Jarnestown, ND; 14 grandchildren, , 13 great :\\;"$' grandchildren; sisters: Ardis Braseth, Moorhead, MN; Donna Benson, graduated from the Security. Beauty School in Grand Forks, ND. She purchased a beauty shop in Grafton and worked there until 1953 when she moved to' Park River and opened Shirley's Beauty Shop. She was united in marriage to Oliver Skeim on November 6, 1949 in Grafton. Shirley operated her shop until 1999 when she retired. She moved to the Good Samaritan Center in October of 2007. Shirley was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and the Park River American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by her Oregon and Bev Helleckson. Edina, MN: her brother Walter (Juanita) Bagge, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son Dennis and brother Johnny Bagge. Funeral sen, ices were held Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND.
