vacation from Germany, their tour of
America included a brief stop in the rural
Midwest•
The nations hotspots were a big draw,
but 'for Hans Peter Alkofer a love of
geneology and a family connection were
a good enough reason for a detour to
Walsh County.
Hans Peter and his friend Hans Jurgen
Kastl, who live near Regensberg,
Germany, flew in to North Dakota June 2
to spend a few days with Ray and Laura
Alkofer.
• Hans Peter started studying geneology
at age 14. His hobby led him here.
Hans Peter's great great grandfather
and Ray and Tony Alkofer's great great
grandfather were cousins.
As a part of their tour of the area Laura
arranged a visit with her friends Sara and
Brian O'Toole. On Friday, June 3, Laura,

of Crystal, N.D.
They started in the main shop building,
