Though this season was a first for Park River, it will not be the last. The Walsh County War- riors are excited to return to the ice next season and build on everything they have learned. Warrior parents and players said, "Matt has been extremely dedicated, patient, positive and sup- portive with this group of girls and their parents. We couldn't have asked for a better coach. Even though it was a very difficult sea- son for the girls playing r more ejrienccd teams, every single one of them is eager to play again next year." of the game, but also, one parent explained, a first time on hockey skates for many. Some of the ladies had had past experience on the ice, learning the basics as figure skaters, but hockey skates proved a world of difference as they had to learn how to maneuver for- wards and backwards while getting up and down on the ice and managing a full hockey stop. At the beginning of their inaugural season the Lady Warriors lost their coach, and were in jeop- ardy of having to cancel the entire season. Matt Peschong was as- sisting Brent Zimmerman coaching the PR Squirts, but stepped up instantly as their head coach to save the girls program. Brent also stepped up to help fill in as he could when he was not coaching the Squirts.
