ruary 5, 2017 at the
Altru Hospital of
Grand Forks.

Franks was born
March 19, 1938 in
Grafton, ND, the
daughter of the late
Lorne and Lorene
(McClennon)
Franks. She attended rural school
near Hamilton and graduated from
Hamilton High School. She re-
ceived her teaching certificate from
Mayville State Teachers College.
After her schooling she rettmaed to
Hanfilton and taught at Hallson
County School and Golden Valley
School District, rural Park River.
Lorna was united in marriage to
Richard Holand on July 5, 1958 in
Hamilton, ND. She was a home-
maker raising her children and re-
turned to work after her children
were raised. The couple moved to
Park River in 1971 where they
continued to make their home un-
til the time of her death.
She was a member of the Our
Saviour's Lutheran Church, Park
River and the Park River Home-
maker's Club. Lorna was an ex-
ample of how a wife and a mother
should be to everyone. She cared
for a lot of people in many ways.
She loved to have tea parties with
her grandchildren, she lived for
her family. She loved a challenge,
loved to learn and never sat still.
She was a great cake baker and
called them Loma's Cakes. She was
also an accomplished seamstress.

Kaylee (Josh), Nicole (Jeremiah),
Paul (Gabbi), Kelly, Daniel, Joseph,
Jennifer (Peter); Richard, Kenneth,
Henry, Wynston and Phillip; nine
great grandchildren and one on the
way, siblings: Harold Franks, Den-
nison, TX; Murdy Franks, Canton,
OH; Gayle (Richard) McConnell,
Drayton, ND; Ella (Gordy) Fink,
Freemont, CA; Karen (Gary) Mark-
strom, Roseau, MN; Nell Franks,
New Jersey; sister-in-law, Mavis
Franks, Canton, OH. Many nieces
and nephews also survive. She was
preceded in death by her parents,
Lorne and Lorene Franks, sister,
Gwen Miller, brother, Dean Franks,
and mother-in-law, Allie Holand.
Memorial services will be Friday,
February 10, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at
the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church
of Park River. Visitation will be on
Thursday from 5-7:00 with a prayer
service at 7.:00 P.M. at the Tollefson
Funeral Home of Park River.
Friends may also call at the church
on Friday for one hour prior to the
service.
