away January 27,
2018 in Albu-
querque, NM. He
was born in Edin-
burg, ND on No-
vember 17, 1940.
Orvin was raised on
a farm outside of
Lankin, ND and his
first eight years of
school were in a one-
room schoolhouse in
Norton Township. Following that,
he attended high school in Park Riv-
er and two semesters of college in
Mayville. He married Nancy
Mahrer on February 6, 1960~ He
worked for Polar Communications
in Park River, ND, for 40 years, 9
months and 8 days. Always active
in the community, Orvin was a
member of the Jaycees and the
Park River Volunteer Fire Depart-
ment. After retirement in 2000,
Orvin and Nancy spent their sum-
mers in the Park River area and win-
ters in Albuquerque, NM. In his
spare time, Orvin loved to watch
UND Fighting Sioux hockey and
Vikings football. He attended his
grandchildren's soccer games and
followed their teams when not in the
area. He also had a green thumb and
spent many summer days working

He is preceded
in death by: his par-
ents, Clarence and
Ethel; his sister-in-
law, LuAnn; his
grandson, Coty; and
several dachshunds
that were part of the
family and Iruly be-
lieved they were
people. He is sur-
vived by his wife, Nancy; his sister,
Joyce (Paul); his aunt, Irene; his chil-
dren, Mark (Lisa), Kurt (Sharlene),
Gregg (Wanda), and Karl (Charlie);
his grandchildren Eric, Tyler, Bren-
na, Cori, Dakota, and Quinn; and his
great-grandchildren Zeke and Is-
abella. As a friend of Bill W, he was
beloved by all who knew him. Be-
sides the emotional support he
gave, he was the coffee maker ex-

Haave, age 94 of Ed-
inburg, ND, passed
away Wednesday,
January 31, 2018 at
the Good Samaritan
Center of Park River.
Margarette J.
Ryba was bom Au-
gust 30, 1923 on the
family farm near
Lawton, ND, the
daughter of the late
Frank and Mary
(Kasal) Ryba. She attended rural
schools near Lawton and attended
high schools in Whitman, Grafton
and Lankin, gradualing from Lankin
High School in 1940. Margarette
moved to Edinburg, ND where she
worked for Clarence and Florence
Peterson at the Peterson Store.
Margarette was united in marriage
to W'fllard Haave on March 19, 1945
in Crookston, MN. The couple
made their home in Edinburg. She
worked for Windingland Farms in
Edinburg for over 25 years. She lat-
er worked for Amundrud Caft, re-
tiring in 2001.
She was a member of the Trin-
ity Lutheran Church and WELCA
of Edinburg.
Margarette is survived by her
daughters: Darlene Haave, Warren,
MN; Mary (Melvin) Obie, Edin-
burg, ND; LuWanna (Francis) Lov-
elk, Pisek, ND; son-in-law, Lyle
Amundrud, Edinburg, ND; three
grandchildren:
Michelle (Keith)
Olson, Kimberly
(Travis) Beck and
Michael Berg; her
great grandchildren:
Ashley (Blake)
Lampert, Andrea
(Tyler) Fredrickson,
Makenzie Olson,
Rhylan Olson,
Andy Beck, Bryan
Beck; three great
great grandchildren:
James Fredrickson, Grady Lampert
and Chael Fredrickson; her broth-
er, Duane (Deloris) Ryba, Devils
Lake, ND. Several nieces and
nephews also survive. She was
preceded in death by her parents,
husband, Willard, daughter Dinah
Amundrud, granddaughter, Danielle
Hagen, siblings: Emma Pic, Lillian
Rysavy, Carol Helle, Melvin Ryba,
Frank Ryba Jr and Shirley Kyllo-
nen.
Funeral services were held Mon-
day, February 5, 2018 at 10:30
AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church
of Edinburg, ND. Visitation was
Monday for one hour prior to the
service at the church. Interment will
be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Ed-
inburg, ND in the spring.
