"Trudy" Cicha Gertrude A, "Trudy" Cicha, age 82 of Park River, ND' passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at her home in Park River with her family at her side. Gertrude Angeline "Trudy" Cicha was born at Lankin, ND on March 11, 1928 to Mary Rose (MacDonald) and Albert Herda. She was educated in Lankin and married Jerome Cicha on October 30, 1946 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lankin. The couple moved to Park River in 1947. Trudy was a long time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Altar Society, the American Legion Auxiliary and the First Rosemary (Mark) Veum, Fort Collins, CO; Joe (Karen), Mandan, ND; Greg (Rochelle), Farley, MO; Helen (Tim) Wilberding, Apple Valley, MN; and Mike (Yerri), Iowa City, IA; Grandchildren: Christine Cicha, Jared (Lisa) . Mountain, Jessica (Steve) Sisson, Aimee (Joe) Fehrenbach, Denise Flaten, Ben Efron, Chris and Chelsea Cicha, Nick, Pat and Tim Thompson, JoAnna (Jeremy) Ness, Marissa, Eric and Josh Veum, John, David and Emily Cicha, Daniel and Andrew Cicha, Gina Durgin, Zachary and Victoria Cicha; six ' Care Health Center Auxiliary. She great grandchildren: Alex and Erin was also a member of the Valley Mountain, Ethan and Ava Sisson, Czech Singers and Park River 'Noah and Allie0 Fehrenbach; Community Choir. She was an incredibly loving and supportive wife and mother and very active community member. She had a strong and trusting faith and attended daily Mass as much as she was able. After Mass she loved to have coffee and laugh with her "Morning Glories" friends. She also loved birds, babies, jumble puzzles, rummage sales, music - especially her favorite polka CDs and Christmas Carols- -and sending and receiving mail. Her family (and fortunate others) all will remember her pot roast, roast pork and dumplings, poppy seed rolls, divinity, chokecherry jelly and apple cake. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, of 59 years, baby daughter Mary Rose, her parents, and brothers: Matthew, Edward, Albert and Peter. She is survived by her children: David (Beth), Overland Park, KS; Vicky (Tom) Larson, Minneapolis, MN; Terri (Glenn) Flaten, Cedar Rapids, IA; Bernadette (Phil) Efron, Annandale, MN; Jerry (Cheryl), Fargo, ND; Julie (Brian) Thompson, Park River, ND; Siblings: James (Joyce)Herda, Minot, ND; Frances Vasicek, Grand Forks, ND; Marian Anderson, Lake Havasu City, AZ, Betty Ulberg, Plymouth, MN; Rosalie (Don) Wissbrod, Renton, WA; Joan (Jack) Babinski, Carry Wood, ID; sisters-in-law: Mafia Herda, Grand Forks, ND; Ella Herda, Mandan, ND; Angie Burger, Park River, ND; brothers- in-law: Sylvester (Chieko) Cicha, Seattle, WA; Emmanuel (Donna) Cicha, Grafton, ND. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Her gentle spirit and unconditional love will be greatly missed. She ended her 2010 Christmas letter with: "It"s been a wonderful ride." Mass of Christian Burial was held January 13, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Park River, ND. Her grandchildren were honorary bearers. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery, Park River, ND. Henschel, age 85, resident of Petersburg, ND, died Friday, January 7, 2011 at the Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood, ND. Ida Georgia Pecka was born October 23, 1925 near Lawton, ND, the dat/ghter of Frank and Mary (Pic) Pecka. She was raised on her parent's farm in Walsh County and attended school in the area. She helped on the farm until 1943 when she moved with her family to Grand Forks. Shortly thereafter, Ida moved to Chicago, IL, where she worked at the Buick Aircraft factory tearing down of plants and flowers. She was also very passionate about animals, and never allowed a stray animal to go hungry or without care. Ida always had a twinkle in her eye and a kind word for everyone she met. She believed in sharing what she had with those who needed it more. No one ever went without a cookie when she was around. Ida was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in East Grand Forks, MN, for 31 years, and had received a 50-year pin from the ZCBJ Kosobud Lodge #106, currently meeting in Lankin. aircraft engines during World War Ida is survived by a son, Dan II. She later moved back to Grand (Karen) of Fort Myers, FL; a Forks and became a Licensed daughter, Eileen of Petersburg, Cosmetologist for Trepanier's Drugstore. Ida married Herman Henschel on June 24, 1955 at Crookston, MN. They continued living in Grand Forks where they raised a family and both worked for many years until they retired in 1986 and moved to Pctcrsburg. Herman died April 7, 2000. : Ida traveled to many different states in her lifetime, and more than once enjoyed visiting Disneyworld with her family. She took a European vacation to ND; a brother, Larry (Jane) Pecka, Sr. of Jamestown, ND; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and her precious pets. She will be deeply missed by them all. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Eman; her parents, Frank and Mary Pecka; Bud her husband, Herman. Ida's funeral service was held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota, ND, on Wednesday, January 12, 2011. Officiating will be Chaplain Dean Lyste.
