PAGE 8 THE PRESS JANUARY 16, 2013 f i!iiiii!ii,i! • , o ! Photos: Larry Biri Top Right: Don (Windy) Windingland, Park River, took off from Grafton at 9:00 pm Friday evening, destination Park River. About five miles out on Highway 17, Don realized how crazy it was to have ventured out into the storm. 'q'he weather was crappy, you couldn't see anything. Never again," said Don. Trying to turn around at an approach, Don slidinto the ditch. He put on his emer.ency flashers andblinked his headlights to get someone to stop. Two cars slowly passed by wdhout stopping. Then, a pickup stopped. Dallas the driver, from Fargo an electrician at the elevator east of Park River with window open and head out looking for the center line drove to Park River, the jour- ney taking close to an hour. Don had called his sister Loretta Moe but she and her husband Noel suffered the same fate on their tentative trip to pick him up. Bottom Right: Denton Offutt pulls Noel and Loretta Moe out of the ditch Saturday morning. The Moes were on their way to pick up Loretta's brother Don Windingland who had hit the ditch five miles west of Grafton along Highway 17. The Moes were dealt the same fate ending up in the ditch on the south side of the road two miles out of Grafton along Highway 17. Blue Lopez, the Moe's son-in-law, picked them up and gave them a ride back into Grafton. Top Left: From bicycles to snowmobiles.., the lack of snow is no longer a prob- lem now that the snow has taken hold and put a decidedly winter presence in the region. Middle Left: To . a) it was cold Saturday morning was an understatement. Dave Anderson looks like a big icicle as h e/lows out his father-in-law's yard. Bottom Left: Helping Hands... Larry Novak (black coat) and Dave Anderson blow out Stanley Novak's yard Saturday morning. Stanley, Larry's grandpa and Dave's father-in-law, was suffering with the flu.
