I want to thank manage- ment & my co-workers for their kindness to this older lady[ Thanks again, Harold & Lois Anderson Fred Holm Fred Holm, age 86 of rural Hoople, ND, passed away Friday, January 3, 2014 at the First Care Health Cen- ter of Park River. Fred was born on October 1, 1927, in Ed- inburg, ND to Die and Matilda "Tillie" (Halvorson) Holm. He completed his educa- tion in the Dundee Township Dis- trict 35 School in the rural Edin- burg and Hoople area. Fred served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 completing active duty in Korea during the Korean War. Following his military serv- ice, he returned to North Dakota to the family Holm Brothers Farm where he worked with his broth- ers, Raymond and Joseph, On June 12, 1960, Fred married Gu- drun Finnson at Vikur Lutheran Church in Mountain, ND. Gudrun passed away after 47 years of mar- riage on November 18, 2007. Fred was a member of the Hvideso Lutheran Church, rural Hoople, ND, and served on the Board of Directors for many years. Alter the church closed, he became a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Edinburg; ND. Fred was a member of the Dundee School Board. He was also a member, for over 60 years, of the American Legion Post 156 in Edinburg, ND. Fred was pas- sionate about working on the farm and supporting his commu- nity...Healso enjoyed traveling to see,kis grandchildren as they I I I I were growing up, par- ticipating in their activ-. ities, and attending many special events over the years. During this past year, Fred attended his youngest grandson's high school graduation and shared the Thanksgiv- ing holiday with Loretta and her family. Fred is survived by bi daughter: Loretta (David) Schmidt of Littleton, CO; grand- children: Andrea, Michael, anti Daniel Schmidt; brother: Joseph (Mae) Holm, rural Hoople, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Gudrun; sis- ter Bernice Field; brothers: Gilman, Raymond, and Leonard Holm. Funeral services will be Friday, January 10, 2014 at 2:30 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Edin- burg. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Trinitv Lutheran Church. Friends may also call at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Military Rites will be provided by the Davidson American Legion Post 156 and the North Dakota Na- tional Guard Honor Guard.
