Gemmill, age 78 of Edinburg, ND passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Gordon C. Gemmill was born September 2, 1933 in Edinburg, ND the son of the late Herbert W. and Opal (Jensen) Gemmill. He attended rural school near Edinburg and graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River in 1951. He worked on the family farm for a time and served in the U.S. Navy for a short time. Gordon worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, WA for two winters. He was united in marriage to Wilma Momerak on November 25, 1956 in Park River, ND. The couple lived and farmed near Edinburg. In 2004 the couple moved into Edinburg. Gordon was a member of the Grace Free Lutheran Church, Edinburg, ND. He served on the township board for many years. Gordon loved to deer hunt, fish and attend auction sales. He restored tractors and loved raising his beef cattle. Gordon loved to visit and relished the time anybody would stop by the house to visit. He is survived by his wife Wilma, Edinburg, ND; children: Karen (Bruce) Langerud, Bismarck, ND; Linda (Leslie) Moe, West Fargo, ND; Mary (J. Kent) Laxdal, Edinburg, ND; Betty (LeRoy) Nelson, Edinburg, ND; Barbara (Chris) Kendall, Edmore, ND; Ronald (Jeanette) Gemmill, Edinburg, ND; 19 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and siblings: Dale Gemmill, Edinburg, ND; Floyd (Irma) Gemmill, Fordville, ND; Gene (Elaine) Gemmill, Edinburg, ND and Helen (Harold) Sundvor, Edinburg, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Susan, sister Rebecca Ruud and brother Herbert. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Edinburg. Visitation was Friday from 5-7 PM with at prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Edinburg. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Odalen Lutheran Ce:netery, rural Edinburg. Let us help you get the words out. Walsh County Press 284-6333 Glen Herman Moen Glen Herman Moen, age 85, passed away in Alexandria, MN on Saturday, November 19, 2011. Born July 31 st, 1926 in Grafton, ND to Gustaf and Alma (Gaarder) Moen. He was baptized and confirmed at Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church in Park River, ND., where he also attended school. Glen entered active service in 1944 and served in the Navy Air Corps until 1946. He was a gunner in a B24 Bomber and spent most of his active duty in the South Pacific Islands. Glen graduated from North Dakota State University in 1950 with a degree in Economics. While at NDSU he was a member of the ATO Fraternity. On June 20, 1950 he married Joan Ross in Grand Forks, ND. Glen and Joan moved to Fergus Falls, MN in 1952 and started Moen Realty. After almost forty years, they moved to Florida and a few years later moved back to Minnesota and settled in Alexandria, MN to be closer to family and grandchildren. While in Alexandria, Glen established Alexandria Area Appraisals LLC. He worked there into his late 70's. Glen was very active in many different organizations and groups. He attended weekly Bible study through Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria, MN where he was a member. He was a member of the VFW, Kiwanis, Lake Region Hospital Board, and the Minnesota Association of Realtors. He was also very active with the Gideons and met Weekly Until only a short while ago. Glen enjoyed his time fishing, sailing and skiing at the cabin on Otter Tail Lake in Minnesota. He had two small hobby farms where he raised cattle and quarter horses. He also enjoyed snow skiing and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Joan of Alexandria, MN brothers, Nell Moen (Donna) of Brooklyn Park, MN and Wally Moen (Evelyn) of Park River, ND, sister-in-law, Harriet Erickson of Rapid City SD, son Craig (Leta) Moen of Bemidji, MN, and daughter, Carolyn (Timothy) Aarsvold, of Alexandria, MN. Grandchildren include Clare Moen, John Moen, David (Amanda) Aarsvold, Katie (Brian) Hope, Melissa Moen, Megan Aarsvold, Elisabeth Knutson, Halsted (Cassidy) Knutson. Great grandchildren include Linden Aarsvold and Brogan Knutson. Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Gustaf and Alma Moen, brother, George Moen and grandson, Nels Knutson. A memorial service was held on November 22, 2011 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria, MN, with the Rev. Mark Astrup officiating. Becky Worley served as organist. Memorial contributions are preferred to the Gideons International.
